S.C.O.R.E

Pre Final Campaign.

S.C.O.R.E.

Strengths-

I believe that my strengths lay through the use of Adobe products such as Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. I am confident in using Photoshop for editing and airbrushing images as well as layouts and editing my own illustrations. In Illustrator I am extremely confident in using the 'pen' tool when drawing my own unique illustrations. Although my skills in InDesign are not as strong as the previously mentioned Adobe products I am still confident in using the product for basic multi page documents and layouts. I feel my other strengths lay within the interaction and understanding of consumers in the 14-26 female demographic as I can relate to them and have an understanding of what they need/want and how to relay information to them in an age suitable manner. I am also doing work experience alongside my university lectures and assignments which I feel has gave me an insight into industry and I hope to continue this throughout second semester.

Challenges-

I find presenting my ideas a challenge whether to a large group or an individual, often stammering or completely losing the ability to get my ideas across to the group/individual. This can often prove as a barrier due to my lack of confidence in myself and dislike to being under pressure even though I am confident in the ideas I am presenting.

Options-

I plan in January to start applying for graduate jobs in anticipation of my graduation in summer 2014. This will give me the best chance possible of ensuring I am in employment soon after finishing university. I am also going to practice presenting my ideas as well as look for techniques to help improve how I present. This will help boost my confidence, which in turn will give my tutors/companies confidence in my ideas and me. I will also start to manage my time better; although it has improved I feel I still need to work harder to ensure I am spending the correct amount of hours per week working on my projects. This is especially important throughout my final campaign as organisation will ensure my work is conducted to its full potential.

Responses-

My work over the past semester has been received well by my tutors Paresh and Steve whom have pointed out my areas of strength as well as the areas of weakness, which I have planned to address as stated in 'options'. Addressing these issues will improve the standard of my work, ensuring it is to the high standard potential employers will expect to see from a graduate. The latter project featuring a link to industry was well received by the company whom responded with positive feedback overall, as well as showing a positive interest in my illustrations throughout the campaign.

Effectiveness

Addressing all the issues in my work as well as improving the areas of strength will help to ensure I gain a 2:1 degree when graduating, which is often requested/desired by graduate employers. Continuing with work experience within industry will give me a better chance of graduate employment post university as experience is requested by employers.

Post Final Campaign.

I feel that my skills when using InDesign have improved drastically through practice whilst putting together my creative Dissertation document. I feel my other strengths lay within the interaction and understanding of consumers in the 14-26 female demographic as I can relate to them and have an understanding of what they need/want and how to relay information to them in an age suitable manner. I now have an understanding of the Male demographic due to my Dissertation being based on this target consumer group. I have continued to attend my work experience with Mary and Milly, as well as working on around 15 separate shoots for Fashion Design and Styling students. I have also applied for a range of graduate jobs in hope of getting a full time position.

Challenges-

I still find presenting my ideas a challenge whether to a large group or an individual, often stammering or completely losing the ability to get my ideas across to the group/individual. This can often prove as a barrier due to my lack of confidence in myself and dislike to being under pressure even though I am confident in the ideas I am presenting.

Options-

I plan to apply for more Graduate jobs and Internships in hope of finding a full time position soon after graduating. I will also continue to practice presenting my ideas as well as look for techniques to help improve how I present. I will also practice my interview techniques and skills to ensure I am confident when presenting myself during interviews. In addition to this I will begin to build up my personal portfolio focusing on the work experience and shoots I have worked on.

Responses-

My work over the past semester has been received well by my tutors Louise and Steve whom have pointed out my areas of strength as well as the areas of weakness, which I have planned to address as stated in 'options'. Addressing these issues has improved the standard of my work, ensuring it is to the high standard potential employers will expect to see from a graduate. I have also had positive responses from my work experience employer as well as the Students I have worked for over the past 5 months.

Effectiveness

Addressing all the issues as well as improving my areas of strength will ensure that I secure a full time position in either a Graduate scheme or an internship. Continuing with work experience within industry will give me a better chance of graduate employment Post University as experience is requested by employers. Developing my personal portfolio will show perspective employers that I am able to multi-task as well as take on additional projects with no connection to my University studies.
